Ronnie Cunningham

Ronnie Cunningham is from Pasadena, CA, residing now in the Atlanta, GA area. He’s President/CEO of Growth by Design Pasadena and Ryan’s Village USA. Ronnie is also a co-founder of the EIQ2-Emotional Intelligence Center. Ronnie is a dedicated lifelong learner, life transformation coach, instructor, and internationally known leader, having worked in government, academia, the faith-based community, and private industry.

Ronnie enjoyed a distinguished 26-year career with the City of Los Angeles in building inspection/code enforcement. He was a key designer in the reorganization of the City’s

Systematic Code Enforcement Program (SCEP), which won a Harvard’s Innovations in Government award. SCEP improved living conditions for over 2.5 million Angelenos and caused over 1.5 billion dollars of reinvestment into the city’s multi-family rental housing stock.

Following the success of SCEP, and the unfortunate displacement of people by Hurricane Katrina, Ronnie promoted to Principal Inspector and assigned as Emergency Management Coordinator for the Los Angeles Housing Department. In that capacity he was involved in municipal, regional, state, and federal catastrophic planning and response.

Ronnie served as Adjunct Faculty Assistant Professor at Pasadena City College teaching building construction and inspection courses for over 15 years.

In preparation for retirement from civil service and consistent with his commitment to lifelong learning, Ronnie returned to school after 35 years, earning a bachelor’s degree in business management and master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies, proving it is never too late to learn.

Ronnie is an Executive Director with The John Maxwell Team, a global team of 48,000 Coaches, Speakers, and Trainers. He serves as a member of John’s Presidents Advisory Council for Youth Leadership and chairs the Youth Content Development Committee.

Ronnie is a certified DISC/Behavioral Analyst Consultant, Parenting and Family Coach, Emotional Intelligence coach, trainer, and co-founder of the EIQ2-EI Center, an organization that trains and certifies coaches around the world in emotional intelligence.

Ronnie has traveled to Costa Rica with John C. Maxwell at the request of Costa Rica’s president to facilitate Transformation Round Tables for government, faith-based groups, youth groups and private-industry. 

Ronnie recently provided online teaching for hundreds of teachers in Lagos, Nigeria. He believes “Nothing is more important than the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional development of God’s young people.

In March 2022, Ronnie became an honoree and recipient of the distinguished Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for a career that spans over 53 years.

In March 20223, Ronnie became an honoree and recipient of the distinguished John Maxwell DNA Culture award for “Exceeding Expectations.”
